Summary:
The main function of Legal is to represent clients in litigation and other legal proceedings, draw up legal documents, or manage/advise clients on legal transactions.

Job Responsibilities:
A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school is required.
Must be licensed to practice law in the applicable state/province.
7-10 years of legal experience required.

Skills:
Represent clients in court or before government agencies.
Present evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.
Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
Present and summarize cases to judges and juries.
Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals.

Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
Advanced knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, and government regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:

Role & Responsibilities

Client is looking for an experienced, highly organized, detail-oriented attorney to support Client's businesses on privacy and data security compliance matters.

The role will report to the Head of Privacy and will work in an ongoing and collaborative way with the Client Ads business in carrying out its responsibilities.

The ideal candidate for this role must have deep substantive knowledge of adtech transactions and US privacy issues.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support the Client Ads business on privacy issues in connection with the development of products, platforms, services, and other initiatives involving the collection and use of consumer data;
• Work closely with product and business development teams regarding product development and conducting Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and to negotiate data privacy terms in commercial agreements.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Law Degree and member of the US state bar in good standing;
• 4+ years total legal work experience, with at least three years working on data privacy matters;
• Comprehensive understanding of U.S. data privacy laws (e.g., CPRA, COPPA, VPPA, TCPA etc.)
• Strong transactional background, drafting and negotiating commercial transactions, and counseling clients concerning privacy and information security issues; and
• Solid knowledge of online advertising and data solutions (e.g., use of tracking technologies like cookies, programmatic advertising, data management platforms, data suppliers)
• Demonstrated analytical experience, including experience assessing risk from a privacy and data protection perspective
• Ability to multitask and to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:
• Privacy certifications such as CIPP-US, CIPM
• Experience with Children's Data Privacy, or Health data
