Job Description:
Lab Manager Role and Responsibilities
The Client Industry Lab team is a fast-paced, high-performing team; responsible for driving innovation within the organization, and across our greater external ecosystem, including customers, partners, startups, universities, governmental agencies, associations, media, industry thought leaders, etc.
 
The Lab Manager role is an onsite position at the Client Industry Lab located at 1407 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield, IL. The role primarily focuses on planning and overseeing site management at the Lab, ensuring consistency across various business operations, and actively engaging with customers and partners. Additionally, the individual will provide technical support for the lab, assisting both internal and external stakeholders.
 
Primary Skills
Planning
  • Manage the registration and reporting process for all Lab visits.
  • Work with the partners on the customer experience and needed assets for visits.
  • Assist with and lead guests through site tours.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Facilities for large events.
  • Work with Marketing teams to ensure day-of event is setup, staff is briefed and serve as onsite point of contact for the Industry Lab.
  • Coordinate with Lab tenants on supporting vendor management (catering, transportation, facility rentals)
  • Manage vendors on site.
 
Site Management
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations and Industry Lab management.
  • Collaborate with partners on implementation of their assets, tests, trials, and maintain functionality.
  • Collaborate internally on implementation of Client assets, tests, trials and maintain functionality.
  • Assist with retaining site inventory list and accesses.
  • Procure assets for the site and perform vendor management.
  • Coordinate with Real Estate & Facilities on site maintenance and upgrades.
  • Manage procurement for Lab operations and track building expenses.
  • Manage Lab shipments.
 
Secondary Skills
Technical
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to integrate their technologies into the lab environment.
  • Provide day-to-day training, maintenance, and support.
  • Assist in implementation and quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and accuracy of technical solutions.
  • Conduct testing and validation of new technologies and features before deployment.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and best practices.
  • Manage user/training materials and maintain Lab documents.
  • Knowledge of Basic Lan/Wan network troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all Audio-Visual Presentation System and Infrastructure.
  • Manage Lab's Digital Media System and Infrastructure.
  • Technical Liaison for Client to our third-party provider downstream and key stakeholders and LOBs
  • Manage customized interactive video wall infrastructure.
 
Background and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business operations, technology, engineering or related field and 5+ years professional experience, preferably within a lab operations and management environment (R&D, cross-industry, innovation incubator, etc.).
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Strong project management experience, and a proven ability to identify, initiate and drive projects and events to successful completion, on deadline.
  • Demonstrate ability to work cross-functionally, think critically, indirectly influence, problem-solve, and lead cross-organizational projects.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate effectively to the intended audiences.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, cooperative, and reliable
  • The ability to adapt to changing demands whilst handling high pressure situations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies while working in a high-tech environment.
 
Desirable proficiency in:
  • Systems Administration, Networking, Linux/Unix Administration
  • AV Equipment: Crestron, Audio Processors, Visual Display Equipment
  • Digital Media Administration.
